Appleton Parks and Recreation is teaming up with NEST (North East Skateboarding Trust) to offer skateboard lessons for youth! The art of skateboarding develops muscles, balance, and coordination through continued movement and can be done as safely as riding a bike.

Your child’s skateboarding experience will consist of: 1) learning skateboarding skills and tricks and building on those skills; 2) skate-a-long time with our experienced skaters who will provide mentoring and motivation; and, 3) supervised free skate time with other children. We maintain a ratio of one instructor to four participants. These classes will focus on beginner and intermediate levels of skills.

In the event of inclement weather, classes will not be cancelled. We will go to the pavilion and use our portable equipment and email parents an hour before lessons to inform them of the change.

REQUIREMENTS: Participants must bring their own helmet & skateboard. Knee/elbow pads and long pants are recommended.

AGES: 6-17
LOCATION: Telulah Skate Park 1300 E. Newberry St.
FEE: $100

Resident registration opens Wednesday, March 6 at 8:00 a.m. and non-resident registration opens Wednesday, March 20 at 8:00 a.m.
