Appleton Parks and Recreation hosts a variety of special events throughout the year at Erb, Mead, and West Pools! All of these events focus on your child having fun, playing games, being active, and maybe taking home a prize or two! Check out all of the fun things we put together below! All events are free with paid admission to the pool.

Come to Appleton West High School Pool on Thursday, April 9 for the Annual Spring Fling! This event includes a variety of games, prizes and a special Egg Hunt! All attendees will receive a goodie bag to take home!

TIME: 1:00-3:00 p.m.
AGES: 6-13 (younger ages will require parental help)
FEE: No fee or registration required to participate, but you must pay the daily admission fee or be an annual swim passholder.  Remember to wear your swimsuit and bring a towel!

In recognition of National Recreation and Parks Month in July, the Parks and Recreation Departments in the Fox Cities have teamed up to offer an exciting opportunity for all swim pass holders. All annual and summer passes will be good for use during open swim hours the week of July 6-10 at any of the locations listed below. You must present your pass at each pool to gain admission. Visit each individual department’s website or call the pools listed below. Don’t miss out on this great opportunity to visit a neighboring pool for no cost using your annual swim pass!

The first day of U.S. Venture Children’s Week on Sunday, July 19 includes our dive-in movie at Erb Pool! Patrons are invited to join us for an evening of FREE fun at the pool that will be sure to bring a smile to your face. The movie will begin at dusk (approximately 8:30 p.m.) and patrons are allowed to bring in inflatable devices to float and watch the show. Concessions will be available throughout the show as well as out of water seating. We will be showing the movie MOANA!

U.S. Venture Children’s Week 2020 starts off with a splash with free open swim at Erb and Mead Pools! Free open swim for children up to 17 years of age. Check out open swim times at Erb Pool and Mead Pool on their individual pages.

Come down to Mead Pool on Saturday, August 22 for a whole lotta doggone fun! Owners can watch their dogs swim at Mead Pool all while enjoying the company of other dogs in this fun filled event! Pre-registration is recommended, but walk ups will be accepted. 

The first 50 dogs will be admitted per session.
Session 1 for small dogs: 9:00 a.m. – 10:30 a.m.
Session 2 for larger dogs: 11:00 a.m. – 12:30 a.m.

  • Aggressive dogs, dogs in heat, or dogs under 4 months of age will not be allowed.
  • Clean up after your dogs! Baggies will be provided for clean-up.
  • Dogs must wear flat buckle /snap collars for controlling in facility.
  • No prong, choke, or training collars.
  • Drinking water for dogs will be provided.
  • Humans are not allowed in water.
  • Dog owners must provide vaccination papers at the time of registration to verify vaccinations AND sign Doggie Day Liability Waiver – NO EXCEPTIONS!
  • Dog owners must be 18 yrs of age or older. Anyone under the age of 18 must be under parental supervision.

YMCA of the Fox Cities Summer Classic:  June 20 & 21*

*Pool will reopen for open swim on Sunday, June 21 at 3:00 p.m. unless inclement weather delays the swim meet.

22nd Annual Bird Bath Invitational: July 10, 11, & 12

Please join use for “spooky” Halloween music, games, and everyone in attendance will receive a trick-or-treat grab bag!  Organized games and races are played on the half hour!

Everyone is welcome, but select games and races will require some swimming ability.
