Become a American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard for Appleton Parks & Recreation!
Whether you are looking for a great summer job or career as a professional lifeguard, it all starts with the training! You will learn the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies as well as provide care for different medical emergencies, illnesses, and injuries until EMS personnel arrives.
Prerequisites: Be 15 years of age on or before the last day of the class, swim 300 yards (12 lengths of the pool) without stopping, tread water for 2 minutes with only using your legs, retrieve a submerged, 10 lb. object from 7-10 feet of water, and return to starting point in 1:40 seconds.
Once you successfully compete the course you will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/ First Aid/ CPR/ AED, valid for 2 years.
Two ways to learn! In-person traditional classes or blend of online and in-person classes.
AGE: Must be at least 15 years old by the last date of the class LOCATION: Appleton West High School, 610 N. Badger Ave. FEE: $100 residents/$125 non-residents
TRADITIONAL IN-PERSON CLASS DAYS: Saturdays and Sundays DATES: March 9,10, 16, & 17 TIMES: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day
BLENDED LEARNING CLASS DAYS: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday DATES: April 12, 13, and 14 TIMES: Friday 4:30 p.m. – 8:30 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.
