Become a American Red Cross Certified Lifeguard for Appleton Parks & Recreation!
Whether you are looking for a great summer job or career as a professional lifeguard, it all starts with the training! You will learn the knowledge and skills to prevent, recognize, and respond to aquatic emergencies as well as provide care for different medical emergencies, illnesses, and injuries until EMS personnel arrives.
Prerequisites:
Be 15 years of age on or before the last day of the class
Be able to perform a Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence, which includes swimming 150 yards, treading water for 2 min only using your legs, and swim an additional 50 yards.
In under 1 minute and 40 seconds, swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10 lb. object from 7-10 feet deep water, and return to starting point.
ALREADY CERTIFIED? Check back in early 2025 to apply for our summer positions!
Once you successfully compete the course you will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/ First Aid/ CPR/ AED, valid for 2 years.
