2021 Appleton Parks and Recreation Youth Basketball
APRD is excited to announce we will be providing special Youth Basketball training programs for 2021! Our “Play it Safe” initiative has been designed to allow kids to develop their skills and play the sports they love in a safe environment.

Because of the pandemic, our traditional basketball facilities are not available for use. We are happy to announce we will be hosting our program at the Community First Champion Center at 5000 W. Champion Drive.

Due to limited gym space and time, we will have a weekly program starting February 24 for 2nd – 6th graders. 5K– 2nd grade will be able to register for a 4-day camp held the week of Appleton Area School District’s spring break, Monday, March 29 – Thursday, April 1. We will organize participants into teams of 10 players and one or two coaches. Teams will be sorted by grade and school they attend. The program will be made up of basketball skill work, drills, and scrimmages within their team.

As with all of our APRD programs, the youth basketball program will be held to the highest safety protocols including guidelines developed in coordination with our local Health officials.

Here is an Overview of the Safety Requirements:
  • Face masks will be required for all players and coaches before, during and after practices inside the Champion Center.
  • We will be sorting participants into teams of 10 or less for training/skills/drills.
  • Players will be asked to stay home if exhibiting any COVID-19 symptoms.
  • Players and coaches will maintain “physical distancing” of six (6) feet whenever possible.
  • Spectators will not be allowed at practices. Additional communication regarding this and keeping the players safe will be sent prior to the start of the program.
