Lifeguard Certification Classes
Dive into the ultimate summer adventure by becoming an American Red Cross lifeguard! Learn the skills to save lives, keep pools safe, and become the hero everyone looks up to.
In this class you will work towards a 2-year certification in Lifeguarding and first aid along with CPR and AED for the Professional Rescuer.
Plus, you will gain the confidence to handle any rescue situation like a pro. This class is your ticket to making waves and having a rewarding summer job!
Prerequisites:
- Be 15 years of age on or before the last day of the class
- Be able to perform a Swim-Tread-Swim Sequence, which includes swimming 150 yards, treading water for 2 min only using your legs, and swim an additional 50 yards.
- In under 1 minute and 40 seconds, swim 20 yards to retrieve a 10 lb. object from 7-10 feet deep water, and return to starting point.

Once you successfully compete the course you will receive an American Red Cross certificate for Lifeguarding/ First Aid/ CPR/ AED, valid for 2 years.
Two ways to learn! In-person traditional classes or blend of online and in-person classes.
TRADITIONAL CLASS:Â This is an in-person traditional class with all instruction, practice, and assessments taking place during the 4-day session.
AGES: Must be 15 by March 23, 2025
DATES: March 15, 16, 22, & 23 (4 days of classes)
DAYS: Saturdays and Sundays
TIME: 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m. each day
LOCATION: Appleton West High School Pool
FEE: $100 residents/$125 non-residents

BLENDED LEARNING CLASS: For this class, there will be 6- 8 hours of online videos and quizzes that need to be completed before the first day of in-person classes. During the 2.5 days of in-person classes, students will practice skills in and out of the water as well as take required assessments.
AGES: Must be 15 by April 13, 2025
DATES: April 11, 12, & 13 (3 days of classes + online classes*)
DAYS: Friday, Saturday, and Sunday
TIME: 4:30 – 8:30 p.m. on Friday, 8:00 a.m. – 5:30 p.m. on Saturday & Sunday
