Camp APRD offers more than your traditional summer camp.  Our camp is outside during the prime summer months, allowing your child the opportunity to canoe, fish and even catch frogs!  We focus on making your child feel welcome and building their self-esteem, by playing sports at one of our ball diamonds or teaching them archery.

Campers will also check out the Scheig Center for a nature break, have mini Zumba® classes, learn fun facts with the Watershed Alliance, hang out with the City’s own fire, police and forestry departments….who doesn’t want to learn to climb a tree?

Weekly activities include going ice skating at Appleton Family Ice Center, visiting one of our pools, and a weekly field trip (built into the cost of the camp, no hidden fees!).

We have a weekly theme that makes each week fun and exciting and we offer activities that correspond to that theme.

Participants should bring a bag lunch and water bottle each day.

Meet the Camp Counselors

Makenzie Ward
Sydney Olmsted
Austin Burmeister

Makenzie graduated from Kimberly High School in 2016 and is now a senior at UW-Stevens Point majoring in Athletic Training. She is also a member of the track and field team! Makenzie will be our lead counselor this year and she is very excited to start her second summer with Camp APRD! She is looking forward to building relationships with the campers, doing new things each day, and enjoying the opportunity to be outside. Makenzie likes running, playing sports, hanging out with friends and family, and playing with her dog.

Sydney will be graduating from Appleton East High School this June. She played on the volleyball, basketball, and softball teams. She enjoys hanging out with friends and family, spending time outside, and will challenge anyone to a frog catching contest! Sydney will be attending UW Madison in the fall and plans on majoring in Speech Language Pathology. Forever a kid a heart, she is excited to meet all the campers and have lots of fun doing new activities each day this summer!

Austin is currently a senior at UW-Oshkosh working towards becoming a high school history teacher. A proud Marine Corps veteran and grateful husband for the last 4 years, he believes in a strong mind and body and hopes to influence others around him to conform to a similar mindset. He likes to have fun and is very competitive so whether it’s a hike up a mountain or a simple game of Go Fish, he will give it his all each and every time. The most important thing to know about Austin is that he is always looking for an opportunity to let his inner kid out, so feel free to come to him with your best corny knock knock jokes or unusual questions. He can’t wait to hear them!
