August 16 - August 22: Active Appleton Week

This week we are focusing on some of the great recreation opportunities we have here in the City of Appleton! These may be areas that you were not aware of of have not tried before. Let’s get active this week!

It’s a Great Day for Disc Golf

Did you know that Appleton has 2 disc golf courses? It’s true! Appleton offers disc golfing at Pierce Park and Telulah Park. Many people enjoy playing disc golf because it is free, relaxing, easy to learn, helps you stay fit, and is a fun way to spend time with loved ones! Don’t worry if you don’t know how to play, we have your back – Check out the video below to learn about different disc types and how to play!  Don’t have a disc? Try starting with a regular frisbee!

Aim High and Let Her Fly

Love the feeling of shooting a bow, but haven’t been able to get out to the woods lately? Appleton has the perfect thing for you – an archery range in town! Stop by Memorial Park this week to put that bow to good use. You’ve worked hard and deserve some time at the archery range this week!

That’s How We Row
Its hard to stay out of the water when the beautiful Fox River flows through your city! Enjoy the water more easily with Appleton’s Canoe and Kayak launches. Bring your canoe and kayak to Lutz Park or Telulah Park this week so a relaxing day on the river.  Both of our canoe/kayak launches are ADA accessible.
Bring a Friend…. We Have Partner Games
Cornhole/Bean Bag Toss

Head over to Pierce park or Erb park for a game of Cornhole (Bean Bag Toss)! Cornhole is a game for 2-to-4 players – Decide which team goes first, then take turns throwing bags with your opponent. Your feet may not go past the front edge of the board. Every bag on the board is worth 1 point and a bag in the hole is worth 3 points. Your opponents points cancel your points out. Add your points after each round of throwing. First person to 21 points wins, but don’t go over or you’ll bust and have to go back to 15 points!
