Teen/Adult Activities


City of Appleton Parks & Recreation offers various opportunities for teen and adult activities. We look forward to your participation in and feedback about our programs. All are welcome to participate!

Lifeguard Training Class: Saturdays February 11 to May 6 (no class March 25-April 1) from 9 a.m. to noon at West Pool, click here for details.

Babysitting / Home Alone Safety Class: Join us as we partner with Mike Cotter, for this eight hour class focusing on "Home Alone" training, learning CPR, AED for adults, children and infants, and how to "be in charge" of children younger than you. This class is designed to provide those ready to be home alone and/or begin babysitting with basic information necessary to handle most emergencies, ages 10-14 (download flyer for January 23 class). Appleton Parks and Recreation is proud to offer our VIP ~ Junior Leader Program. This program is intended to offer young adults who are 14 years of age and older with an opportunity to gain both experience and knowledge of the skills it takes to become a leader. VIP Junior Leaders will assist the Playground Leaders in setting a positive example for younger children. To be a Junior Leader, there are certain expectations to follow and various duties that may need to be completed:

Junior Leader Expectations and Duties

Follow and enforce all park rules
Accept and follow through with directives from playground leaders and be a positive role model for all park attendees and park program participants
Commit to and be present at the park on a regular set schedule as well as for special events
Help keep park clean: pick up garbage, sweep/mop shelter floors, etc.
Assist playground leaders in planning and preparing for daily activities
Assist in chaperoning trips and special events as scheduled
