Infant and Early Childhood Classes | Learn to Swim Classes

lifeguardsFIRST AID: Students learn to handle emergency situations such as bleeding, shock and sudden illness. Loaned course books are provided at the first class or may be purchased at the Red Cross. First Aid certification is valid for two years. Students must be age 12 or older. This class is designed for first time students and for students requiring recertification.

ADULT, CHILD AND INFANT CPR:
This class is designed to teach participants how to recognize and care for breathing and cardiac emergencies in adults, children, and infants. This class also covers victim assessment and emergency response. Loaned course books are provided at the first class or may be purchased at the Red Cross office. Adult, Infant, and Child CPR Certification is good for two years.
CPR PROFESSIONAL:
CPR for the professional rescuer courses are designed for people with job-related duties in emergency preparedness and response. This includes nurses, law enforcement and EMS personnel, fire fighters, business and industry response teams, lifeguards, flight attendants, and others who must take action in emergency situations. Students will learn a variety of skills including one and two-rescuer CPR, use of resuscitation masks and bag-valve masks for ventilating victims, and how to respond in special rescue situations.

LIFEGUARD TRAINING:(includes CPR for the Professional Rescuer, First Aid & LG Training)
Qualify to be a lifeguard by passing this course. Prerequisites: Be 15 years of age on or before the last day of class and able to swim 300 yards continuously. Participants must also be able to swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of 7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return to the surface, and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object within 1 minute 40 seconds. Course includes First Aid and CPR for the Professional Rescuer. Course books are provided on the first day of class. Lifeguard Training is good for two years, First Aid and CPR Professional certifications are valid for two years.
