Winter in Wisconsin can be beautiful but for many it often leads to social isolation, unhealthy sedentary lifestyles, and even winter depression. Winter depression is a seasonal affective disorder (SAD) that is common in areas like ours that experience long winters.  Thanks to a cohort of Leadership Fox Cities, project Wintermission was created.  The cohort  included:  Adam Hatlak, Dawn Pennington, Sarah Wylie, Sarah Cooper, Brittany Helf, and Matthew Kasriel and their project was an effort to counteract winter blues by providing opportunities to encourage physical activity and ways to enjoy the season, rather than dread it.

Bringing affordable winter activities, and making them accessible to individuals and families, was a primary focus. Through a major gift in-kind donation of ice skates from SCHEELS, generous monetary donations from our sponsors: Nicolet National Bank, BLC Community Bank, and Business Lending Group LLC, we are excited to bring affordable ice-skate rentals to allow individuals and families to try skating, perhaps for the first time, without having to purchase skates. We are grateful to the groups for their generosity and passion for serving the Fox Cities.

Skate rentals are available at The Goaltender in the pavilion at Jones Park for $3.00.  Limited quantities and sizes.  Rentals are only available when The Goaltender is open.
