Friends of the Memorial Park Gardens

Friends of the Gardens logo with vision statementAppleton Memorial Park Gardens, located at 1313 Witzke Blvd inside Appleton Memorial Park, display many unique horticultural and aesthetic features including a native rose garden, serenity butterfly garden, native wildflower garden, fragrance garden, Veterans memorial garden and a water feature. Benches placed throughout the grounds encourage visitors to sit and enjoy the colors, textures, varieties and fragrances of the plantings. Appleton Memorial Park Gardens are free and open to the public from 5:00 a.m. - 11:00 p.m. year round. We invite you to stroll through the theme gardens which have been designed to offer changing patterns of natural beauty throughout the year. Most of the plants featured are native to Wisconsin.

The Friends of Appleton Memorial Park Gardens is an all-volunteer group dedicated to the preservation, sustainability and enhancement of the Gardens. The advisory committee meets monthly except in December to plan and direct the group's activities in cooperation with Parks staff. Interested individuals are welcome to attend these meetings.

VolunteersDuring the growing season, volunteers under the guidance of Park staff tend the Gardens, planting, weeding, pruning and updating the beds, shrubs and other features. They also work hard to help keep invasive plant species at bay. While many of the volunteers are Master Gardeners, anyone who enjoys the company of fellow gardeners and who is willing to perform these tasks following the Parks' plan is welcome and encouraged to join the volunteers.

To learn more about the Friends' activities, follow the group on Facebook.
